Cardel Place is on a mission -- to raise healthier generations in north-central Calgary and beyond.
Physical inactivity is the number one global health challenge, especially among children. In Canada alone, 1 in 4 kids are either obese or overweight, putting them at risk for serious health problems. Why? Because kids aren't reaching the minimum 60 minutes of physical activity recommended per day.
Cardel Place's Raise the Bar campaign was launched to increase physical activity among kids, families and whole communities. We're offering ourselves as a working model pioneering local solutions and demonstrating how Canada's public recreation sector can-and must-do more to get people of all ages to live more active lives.
The result? Healthy young people are more apt to grow up to be strong leaders while maintaining healthy habits, likely resulting in reduced healthcare costs, increased workforce productivity and stronger communities.
But we can't do it all by ourselves; we need your assistance. Join Cardel Place and the numerous groups and individuals who share our passion and beliefs, as we:
The first of many Raise the Bar initiatives -- The Child and Youth Action Research Project, has been developed in association with Mount Royal Universitywith funding support from the Flames Foundation for Life.
